Sawmills Studio

The Sawmills was established in 1974 as one of the first residential recording facilities in the U.K.

Set in its own unspoilt tidal creek on the banks of the River Fowey in Cornwall, the Sawmills boasts one of the most picturesque and atmospheric locations for a recording studio anywhere in the world. The main building is a 17th century water mill, the site has a documented history stretching back to the 11th century.

Over the past 4 decades the Sawmills has evolved into a unique balance between modern technology and the outstanding natural beauty of the Cornish countryside to produce a perfect environment for creative work.

Recording artists from XTC to Robert Plant, The Stone Roses to Oasis, The Verve to Supergrass and Muse, have all remarked on and benefited from the special creative atmosphere that the Sawmills provides.

The studio is comprised of a control room and machine room, plus a live room with two isolation booths and ‘The Cave’. Both the control room and live room have beautiful views across the lawn and creek.

There are seven bedrooms (three en-suite) and 2 shared bathrooms. Each room has a television, nearly all the rooms have superb views looking out across the water to the woods beyond. There is a spacious lounge/ kitchen with television, DVD player etc.

Sawmills Studio has one of the most beautiful and secluded locations of any residential studio in the world. Situated a mile from the sea on the south coast of Cornwall, near the picturesque town of Fowey.
